Xp sp2 intall on a asus p6t MB; no internet

I've installed XP sp2 on an ASUS P6T MoBo; installed OK except that OS does not recognized/connect to its its RJ45 socket; thus no Internet. (Machine formerly ran Vista and then Win 7 with no problems). Any suggestions for a fix. Thanks

  1. Use a different computer (like the one you posted this message from) to go to the ASUS website and download the latest network driver.
  2. Open the web page: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1366/P6T/#download

    Choose OS: WinXP

    Click on + LAN

    Download the Realtek RTL8111C Ethernet Driver V5.702.806.2008 for Windows 32/64bit XP.(WHQL)

    Extract the contents of the RTL8111C_Ethernet_V57028062008_Xp.zip file.

    Run the AsusSetup.exe file that is in the RTL8111C_Ethernet_V57028062008_Xp directory.

    I was able to download the correct driver and port it (via a USB stick) to the no-internet machine. After installing this driver, everything was OK.
