Motherboard replacment

Welcome to Tom's Forum! :)

None if the replacement MOBO supports Vista. Before you begin boot to the BIOS and set to AHCI and whatever other special environment(s) are needed. Download the latest drivers from the MOBO's website - don't use the CD/DVD that came with the new MOBO they're already 9/10 old.

Verify AHCI is properly set in the Window's registry; note the Start values and change them to 0 (zero) or allow Fix It to correct them; see -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976

Next, insert the CD/DVD with the new drivers and install them per your OS, then look in the Device Manager for any {? or !} missing drivers and if needed install those missing drivers, but more than likely they're fixed by the install procedure as I just described.

Almost for certain you will be required to reactivate Windows and may need to do the procedure online or call Microsoft - you'll be promoted.

Good Luck! :)
