GT 9600 Half Height card fan question

Hello,
I have a gateway sx 2800 with the GeForce 9600 card
it overheats (up to 96C) so i am thinking about adding some holes in the case above the fan because currently the graphics card fan is right up against the case
however, does anyone know if the fan is an intake or output fan

Do you have a camera so that we can give better advice as to your problem. The low profile 9600gt never ran cool compared to the normal versions.
