Well I had convinced myself that the gigabyte super OC 470 was sweet enough to justify the $350 price tag and I was going to buy one this week

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125338

however newegg just increased the price to $379.99 before like 8 bucks shipping!

I could almost get 2 460's for that price - which is what i'm considering now. I could spend $150 bucks less and get the best 460 - (i want the best one - i'm looking at the cyclone or the hawk - currently the hawk - open to suggestion)

This Hawk 460 comes with 2 free games (nice but not a dealmaker) and again is 150 cheaper. IF ITS SUFFICIENT for running games on high settings at 1920x 1080 than it's the way to go i think - and of course I can use that 150 to get most of the way to the 2nd card for SLI which i'll prob do in a few months.

I guess my primary concerns are

- is this the best 460 choice? i'm willing to spend whatever since i was going to spend 350 anyway.

- is the 460 SOLO enough to enjoy games at high settings 1920x1080 until I get a second card

- one of the reason i was going to spring for the 470 was longevity - how long could this 460 setup last... solo and sli??

Looking for input on the above please - as well as any other thoughts/suggestions

we should see ati's 6000 series trickle out this year and maybe some nvidia revisions like gtx 475,485 and more so you can buy one now and see what the market has to offer round Christmas if its nothing special get another gtx460 or i believe the gt 480's and 470's will have a serious price drop when ati whips out the new toys

And the 460's? again, they're much cheaper - i'm hoping one should be good for now and i'll add another later

I have most of the other components already - not too worried about combos re: card selection. You are referring to the Hawk, right?
