It seems I need a new sound card instead of onboard because of Bad Company 2 lock ups. Any recommendations for the z5500, coaxial or optical is fine.
Just don't want to spend over 100 or so dollars.
As a side note, would the sound card require much more power to run? Because I only have a 600W OCZ gamexstream, thats 2 years old powering :
Q9550-3.4 ghz
GTX 260
p5q pro
win 7- 64 bit
4 gb DDR2-800
6 or so fans

Any thoughts?

Hello,

You have a 350$ audio system and were using the onboard audio !? It's probably the best computer speaker system on the market right now. If I were you, I'd get the best sound card possible pronto !

You could have a look at the Asus Xonar Xense. It's in my opinion the best deal you can have out there. You have a 200$ value sound card and a 200$ value headset for 280$ (you also get free shipping).

If that's really too high for you, take a look at the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Titanium Fatal1ty Champion. It's the second best.

In third place, you've got the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Titanium Fatal1ty Professionnal.

Finally, the Creative 30SB088200000 is not bad either.

Hope this helped,

One last thought is optical really that much more amazing over analog on these speakers? If so, would I be getting true full 5.1 surround on my games and movies with optical?
Thank you for your help!

No, not really. Analog is the best way to go. But optical is much more convenient. Here's a link explaining the difference between them : http://www.tested.com/news/hdmi-vs-optical-vs-analog-audio-whats-the-best-connection/632/

Good luck !
