I have been having alot of trouble installing my new memory into my laptop here is a link to the specs: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/321957-321957-64295-321838-89315-3764998.html

previously, the laptop had 1 x 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I pruchased 2 x 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM http://patriotmemory.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=3&catid=33&prodgroupid=37&id=614&type=5
After installing them both I recieved the blue screen of death irql_not_less_or_equal error.

so i tried each of them sepertely and both 2 GB sticks work just fine in either of the RAM bays. I have decided that because of this the RAM is not faulty. I tried the memtest but i get the "failed memory address 3F7E8144"

After this I tried flashing and then updating the BIOS and none of this seemed to work.

Any insight as to what could be the issue?

If your notebook is running Vista 32bit, most likely it can't address all the memory. Since it came with 2Gb, I'd say that's what you have.

Upgrade to Windows Vista 64bit if you can find a copy, or return the memory.
