My IMac is about 2 years old. Will the new SSD make the general operation of my iMac faster? That's the main reason people choose an SSD instead of a conventional hard drive. Your Mac should feel "snappier" in general use too since an SSD can find files much quicker than a hard drive. | Report abuse Reply to phil22 Ask the community Post an answer Tom's Hardware>Forum>Storage>Sata disk drives speeds> Related ressources: ForumSATA speeds , Disk RPM's - Difference ForumRaid-Z speeds are slower than single SATA drive ForumSata 6Gb/s HDD at sata 3Gb/s speeds ForumCrucial M4 sata ii ssd slow write speeds AHCI enabled ForumMainboard doesn't recognize 3.5 SATA hard disk drives ForumEliminate/Minimize Disk Queue Length - SATA vs SATA II III and RAID0 ForumSATA SSD + SCSI Disk in RAID?
