Hi. I am thinking of buying a decently powered workstation for After Effects and Cinema 4d and currently have a Dell Precision 670 Dual Intel XEON - 2.8 GHz with 3 Gb of Ram. Obviously my first preference would be to build a while new system but funds are a bit low at the moment. Does it make sense to do this:
Scrap old motherboard and cpu from Dell Precision
Buy a new motherboard and cpu, maybe upgrading to an i5 or i7 system including new memory
Keep the case, HDD and GPU from the Dell and maybe upgrade later
Does this make sense or should I just compromise with a new system?
More aboutpossible upgrade dell precision
Forgot to mention, does it make sense to spend money to upgrade the RAM of my Precision? Will I get performance with After Effects if I upgrade to 8 or 12 Gb and keep same cpu?
