Hi there,

I was trying to see if I could deny a user from accessing the CD-ROM drive
under Windows XP Pro.

I opened the Computer Management panel. I opened the properties page of
Removable Storage and in the Security tab I assigned Deny all to the users
group.

After I did this step I can't click on the Removable Storage anymore. I
receive one the following error message:

"Access is denied. The snapin's display may be inconsistent with the
Removable storage service. If the problem persists please restart the snapin."

or

"Access is denied. You do not have sufficient privilege to perform this
action. You can find the privilege needed on the security property page."
Although I'm using an Administrator account.

Does anyone know how to fix this or what it means ???

I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks.

I met this problem too, so I really want to know how to resolve it. Is it a
bug?

However, I have done many testings about this problem and got a little
result. If your Administrators group has enough privilege to reset the
permissiion, you could check the member of USERS group, if you found two
other groups "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users" & "NT AUTHORITY\INTERACTIVE"
are the members of Users group, please remove them. Then log off and log in
again as administrator, you could open the properties page again. But if you
remove administrators group from Security tab and assigned deny all to the
users group, I found properties page can't be opened again, whatever as which
user you log on.

I'm puzzled in the problem, if anyone know the cause or resolution, please
tell us. Thank you very much!

puma.
