Upgrading GPU on 680i SLI mobo

The Nvidia 680i SLI mobo has PCI Express 1.0. Has anyone gotten a new video card that is PCI Express 2.x to work in the 680i SLI.

I tend to see statements saying PCI Express 2.0 is compatible with 1.1 or 1.x...but haven't gotten an actual confirmation of an upgrade.

This seems to be a simple question yet I haven't confirmed a single instance where someone tried it and failed or succeeded.

Thanks!

PCI-E 2.0 is backward compatible with PCI-E 1.0 so you can use a PCI-E 2.0 card in your current motherboard
