I have this exact external hard drive here:

I'm unsure if it's compatible with my Acer Aspire One laptop, which has 320GB disk space, 1GB RAM, and Windows 7 Starter.

I've tried it with my other two laptops (a Gateway and an older Acer Aspire One model) and they no longer work. I'm unsure if such an external HD could have caused them to break.

Is it possible that my external hard drive could cause problems with lower-end laptops? :??:

I've never heard of an external hard drive "damaging" a computer or laptop. I have two of those drives connected to mine and no problems with either the drives or the PC. My son uses the exact same external drive model connected all the time to his 10-year old PC and both the drive and the PC are fine.

The drive is compatible with any PC that runs Windows XP or later, and even where it's not compatible it wouldn't damage anything - it just wouldn't work.
