i have recently bought AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9GHz Quad Core Processor and i want 2 know whether it is better than core i3 or not in terms of performance.

The X4 gives similar performance to i3 dual core cpus at same clock speeds....

naturally, the quad core might have the advantage in multitasking (*more than 2 cpu intensive apps) or in some multithreaded apps....

Depends entirely on what you are doing. Both are superior at different tasks.
