If a different pen drive works okay in the same USB ports, throw the Sony one away and replace it. Even Sony pen drives are subject to the same faults as any other brand, since the flash technology is the same.
Paying a premium price for a pen drive is no guarantee that it will be more reliable than a cheaper one. It's the flash technology that's the weak point. I usually keep half a dozen of them on my desk, and when one them misbehaves I ditch it and use one of the others.
