Cannot open external hard drive

Last response: in Storage

I have a external hard which I am plugged in into my newly installed Windows 7. I previously partitioned the drive into 2 drives. It recognized the first partition and I can open and yeah, but the second one, on the other hand, shows up in computer but all it says is "local disk(I)". When I try to open it, it starts loading, but doesn't finish. Any ideas how to open it. Any help is welcome

Thanks in Adanvce!

If you don't have important files on it you could try to reformat.

The second partition is possibly corrupted.
If you have some important files there, you could try a trusted hard drive recovery freeware to regain your files back at first and format it to take a chance afterwards.
This freeware is really free and efficient since I have tried it to recover my inaccessible data from a corrupted drive.
Pay attention:
1. Never place anything new on this partition in case of the original files overwritten by the new files, which can make them gone permanently.
2. Back up all your needed data well on this drive, including the data on the first partition in case of any data loss.
3. Store the recovered files on a different drive in case of recovery failure.
