How much difference will I noticie running a GTX 460 in a PCIe_16 slot at 8x speed vs 16x? The problem is my mobo has Sata3 and USB3 but when I enable them (I have an SSD that will take advantage of Sata3) it drops my PCIe_16 slot down to 8x. I have a GA-P55A-UD6 with an i5-750. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Erik

You wont take much of a performance hit, here is the results of GTX 480s and 5850s running in 16x/16x and 8x/8x, the performance difference is minor and will be even less for single card setups

So the benefit of running Sata3 out weight the slight margin I will give up on the graphics side?

You might want to check the performance gains with Sata 3 as well. There are no non-SSD solutions that will gain anything from Sata 3, even though those options are availible. I'm not sure SSD's will gain anything by Sata 3 either.

The few articals I've read are showing no improvements using Sata 3 with a single SSD unless in a raid 0 setup. However, I've seen stuff where USB 3.0 has improved speeds over USB 2.0. If you don't have two SSD's in raid 0 nor a USB 3.0 flash drive, you might just hold off on enabling that feature.
