Hey everyone :hello:  ! im brand new to this forum and i love your articles
on testing of graphic cards! But im so confused! Here is my story.
--------------------------
Im a semi-hardcore gamer.. I play world of warcraft mostly and i would
love to see my fps go higher then 5 in cities   (on everything ultra low + 800x600)
I have a pretty old computer+graphic card and i was thinking of getting

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/XFX+-+ATI+RADEON+HD+4650+1G...

----------------------------
And the powersupply i was going to get was gona be

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
--------------------------
But... ive been doubting if these things will actually work with my system :(
Some questions are.. Will the powersupply supply enough for the card?
Will my computer be able to even run the card? How am i gona install this powersupply?
What if this all doesnt work and it gets worse?!
------------------------
As you see im very distraught!

Please help me,answer these questions plzzzzz
and if these things wont be compatible! Recomend something else please.
HERE ARE MY SYSTEM SPECS THX IN ADVANCE!

Well for one that price is very high for a 4650. If you're willing to spend that much let me suggest...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Its better then the 4650 and cheaper then what you were going to pay for it.

Using that extra money you can get a good PSU instead of a Cooler Master... Although yours might be good enough for that GPU.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Its a little much for what you need but with the mail in rebate its pretty cheap and its a good PSU, will lat you a while.

However what Dell Inspiron do you have? If you have a minitower or slim case your going to need a special PSU and GPU (in which case I would just recommend upgrading the case).

One question to ask, Why do you plan to buy the GPU from bestbuy for $90 when newegg has it for $60 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ,you are getting the PSU from them anyways.

However, that HD4650 wont fit as your 530S only accepts LP cards, nor that PSU.

Id suggest you get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and use your existing PSU.

Ahh yeah I thought might be the case with case, I wasn't sure.

In which case go with what Timop said (me and him acutally picked the same GPU, his is just low profile for your case).

With that card, just install.

However, Im not sure what Mobo you have and you have PCIe version you have, for security reasons, you might want this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... to avoid PCIe 2.1 problems.

First of all whats "Mobo" and second is there a way i can find out what my PCIe version is ?

oh and is the card you just listed good :D  or is a piece of crap lolz :(

No, 55XX card run fine on your PSU(250W)
That card is a good card also, disregard that review, they just sent the wrong LP adapter.

It says it need 400wats but you don't, that 5550 will be good enough without the need to upgrade anything else.

Mobo stands for motherboard.

Are you sure thats a LP case though? I saw some Inspiron 530's that looked normal to me..

Doh! I guess I'm not paying attention tonight on anything.

So yes, go with the last card Timop suggested it will be fine for you, you will not have to do anything except plug it in and install the drivers. As in no need for a PSU upgrade or case upgrade.

The OP currently has a Radeon 9250 which is either a PCI or AGP card, it might be worth determining whether or not a PCIe slot is even available before recommending such cards.

PCI: 2 Slots
PCIe x1: 1 Slot
PCIe x16 (Graphics): 1 Slots

It could well be a PCI version the OP has but if it's an AGP one...

You could try GPUz to see what your current card is but I'm wondering if you have an IGP and no slots whatsoever.

Hes doing this so he could be sure you have a PCIe slot.
Was the 9250 added in by you?

If you can, just open up the case and take a pic, But I'm almost sure you'll be fine with that 5550.
