Ok. I admit I have a quite old rig and I've been playing only Doom 3 & Far Cry on it. Yesterday I decided to try some of my windows golden oldies: Sin, Turok 2 and Forsaken. And none of them had the CD audio in game. Plus their installation processes was stopping at 99%. The only way to install was to log in as the "Admin" account (even though my account is an admin too) or to copy the entire CD content to the HDD.
So I have Windows 2000 SP4 and I have one DVD (D , CD burner (E & virtual drive (F . None of them produces CD audio in game, no matter if their CD output was set to digital or analog. Mixer volumes and cable connections are OK. CD Player program plays the audio from the CDs, so they are not damaged. ePSXe plays the CD audio too.
I don't know how to fix it. I know that while installing Max Media Creator for PS2, it also included ASPI kit. I was happy to have it installed too, because it was supposed to let me choose CD drive during Mega CD emulation, but in the end it did nothing.
