Problems!!! Help

I have a problem with my home PC - infected with some sort of spyware/virus - redirecting my internet home page/not allowing me access to certain internet sites - including microsft upgrades/msn hotmail. I've tried adware, spydoc and similar software and while this detects and removes files it doesn't get rid of the problem - any ideas?

Have you done the scans from safe mode?
Website redirects usually means the windows host file is getting changed. I believe it is in /windows/system32
Look in it and if there are any of the websites you can't get to in there delete those lines.
