PCG-631M cmos battery

i have a sony vio notebook model PCG-631M on bootup it ask's for the bios password ,i was told if i remove the battery from the board and leave it out for half an hour this would cure it i have dismantled it as far as i dare but cannot find the battery,could you help please

Ouch, no, do not try to remove the battery from the motherboard. It's a good idea if you have an actual PC - but laptops are not meant for easy fixes.

I'm guessing that this wasn't your laptop originally (you bought it secondhand) and that the previous owner neglected to mention the password. How sweet of them.

You should be able to find an answer here: http://www.tech-faq.com/reset-bios-password.html

Personally - I'd type in the name of the BIOS vendor as the password and see if that works.

Thanks for your input, you are correct i have bought this secondhand i will have a go at what you suggested
