My SSD is not booting windows 7! What happens is that it says starting windows then it blue screens for a tenth of a second and restarts saying it failed to boot. If any background is needed on the drive, feel free to ask. This is very important!!!

  1. Which brand is the SSD?
  2. It is a sandisk extreme ssd 480gb
  3. If you have newer firmware on it , try use other SATA port, and if you still get the problem, try to contact sandisk support.
  4. was the ssd installed on this system then windows 7 installed on the sdd or did you install the ssd then clone or copy windows onto the ssd from another drive or system??? if you did the clone or copy you have to boot into windows f8 safe mode and remove all the older drivers.
  5. that is the problem, i CAN'T boot into safe mode
  6. Did you change SATA mode recently?
For example did you install Windows with the SSD in IDE mode and then switch to AHCI mode?

i have done nothing like that. do you need any more information?
  8. Do you have your original Windows installation disk?
If so, you can boot to that and Repair your O/S: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ss/windows-7-startup-repair.htm
  9. i have tried that and it will not pick up the drive. i have also tried in command prompt with no luck. the bluescreen is UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

i will try that and tell you what i get.
  11. i figured out the problem. the drive is DEAD. now another question, how can i get the data off as cheap as possible? here is what is happening. picking up a good amount of bad sectors, bluescreen is UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, cannot boot into safe mode, no BIOS changes, and boot is UNREPAIRABLE.
