I have a Dell XPS laptop with a faild HD. I replaced it with a new one and trying to use the old "failed" laptop's HD as an external portable. Now the old HD is in an enclosure but when I connect it via USB, my PC doesn't recognize it. I'm afraid that since it has Windows(7) on it, the mother PC is confused or because it's defective, the mother PC can access it? On other PC, it appears as a drive of some sort but it "hangs" the system as if pondering what to do with it, up to 30 mins. basically, I want to be able to access it to retrieve some of my files on there if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciative. Thank you
