Since you are planning to run a 2nd hard drive for storage, consider a 120GB SSD instead of the VelociRaptor. Win7 has trim for it and you will really notice the speed improvement. Price should be comparable.
 
With gaming/rendering i would go this route though i suspect $$ is not much an issue with ya hehe

Since just @ 1680 x 1050

1. No need CF/SLI: 870/SB850 chipset
2. 1055T + excellent air cooler + OC
3. Ok 8GB RAM all things considered may be useful
4. 60GB SSD Sandforce based controller (boot) , 1-2TB mechanical for storage
