hello :)
i'm in dire need of a new HDD for storage and since i know absolutely nothing about them,i want to know what should i get between those two(other brands are not available in my country) :

Western Digital (WD) Caviar Green WD20EARX 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM SATA 6GB/s 64MB Cache

I've never before in my life used Seagate drives and i have in my system Western Digital (WD) Caviar BLUE WD5000AAKX 500GB SATA 6GB/s 16MB Cache HDD.
can i pair the seagate drive with the western digital i already have?

P.S: they both cost the same

thanks in advance for your help :D

Sure, that's no problem. I've done it many times. They use the same standards for the interface so what's inside the drive doesn't matter. The data gets to the motherboard anyway.... By the way, if this is just for data the blue drive is fine. If you want more performance, go with the black versions.
  4. They are compatible with each other as they use the same interface.

However, the Barracuda has a MUCH greater sustainable throughput than the WD Green.

Barracuda Max Sustained Data Rate, 210 MB/s

WD Green Max Sustained Data Rate, 110 MB/s

    Specs are on their websites.

  6. Black also has a 5 year warranty. Definitely something to consider.
