Hello everyone,

I was benchmarking my newly built system last night, and found that everything was good except my memory speed. It was running just under 1300 but my Mushkin blackline is supposed to run at 2000. Now I am new to overclocking so at first I was apprehensive. So I tried just adjusting the memory clock manualy a few times, and after server no-posts I decided to use the sabertooth p67's bios ez mode. So I set it on performance which does some auto overclocking and everything works fine. That is until I run Nova Bench. During the 3d graphics test it will crash the system. Usually it will still post after this and boot. Since I am a nub I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on?

Thank you,

My recommendation with any P67/Z68 MOBO is to always use the latest non-beta BIOS, in your case it's Version 1801, use ASUS EZ Flash 2:
EZ Flash 2 is a built-in App to allow the BIOS to be upgraded and USB Flash Drive is the storage for the BIOS ROM file to be stored/accessed from with BIOS EZ Flash 2. The USB Flash drive must be formatted in FAT-32.

Problem, all of the Mushkin Enhanced Blackline DDR3 2000 MHz are 1.65v and the two kits I know of are 9-11-9-27-2N @ 1.65v at Rated Speed. Sandy Bridge prefer's 1.50v RAM even at high frequencies.

I am not a fan of using AI Overclock Tuner -> XMP + eXtreme Memory Profile -> Profile 1 some kits Profile 2, but it is an option.

BIOS Manually:
AI Overclock Tuner -> Manual
Memory Frequency -> DDR3-2000MHz {can vary on BCLK; use closet value}
DRAM Timing Control/Enter
Set timing values including Command Rate -> 2 ; 9-11-9-27-2N (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS-CMD) **
Manual Adjustment -> Ultra Fast
DRAM Voltage -> 1.65v
VCCIO Voltage -> 1.20v

Save & Exit = Yes

note: * Due to CPU behavior, DDR3 1800 MHz memory module will run at DDR3 1600 MHz frequency as default.
4 x DIMM, Max. 32 GB, DDR3 1800/1866/1600/1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
DDR3-2000 MHz is not listed.

If you have problems the adjust the CAS Timings to a JEDEC Standard 10-10-10-(28~30)-2N or 11-11-11-(29~31)-2N.

I am wondering how dangerous updating the bios actually is. Some of the people I am talking to and stuff I am reading on the internet are leading me to believe this is dangerous. What could be the repercussions of updating a bios incorrectly?

Thank you,
