It is compatible, but I would advise against it.
Crossfire scaling after 3 cards is really bad, and the 4870X2 will bring your 4890s back to 4870 speeds, so the performance increase would be pretty close to nothing.

If you want, get another 4890, or depending on your Mobo, up grade to a pair of HD5850/460/470s.

thnks and what about haveing a 3rd 4890 xoc but it'll be in x8 not x 16 will it be running at half power or just alittle performance loss
  3. X8 reduces the performance by about 3% for a 4890, so its not too big of a deal.
  4. be careful with those temps.. 4890's get pretty hot.. might wanna get some extra fans if your going x fire.. mine ended up frying on me.. but mannn.. that card was a BEAST!!
  5. i have a coolermaster haf 3 200mm fans and 1 120 and my room has ac so I should be good I hope.
