Can the community please critique this build? I need to build a new machine for FFXIV MMO that just came out. My current machine meets requirements but plays like garbage. I am looking to stay around the $1,000 mark.

If you advise any changes can you please explain why?

Thanks,

I am also considering buying 1-3 120mm Case fans so the case will have fans at all points available. Not sure if that is overkill or not, but less heat the better. So that might add about $50 I guess, haven't priced them yet 'cause I don't know if I need them yet.

Points of concern/question...is the 10K RPM of the velociraptor worth the cost? Is the i5-760's stock speed worth the added cost? I think it is. I picked the card because of the factory over-clock so I don;t have to mess with it, if the speeds don't warrant the cost I am fine with a different one.

Thanks in advance for helping.

FFXIV is more red camp friendly

So the HD 5850 looks an excellent buy for the $$
$684AR

I wouldn't CF/SLI either with 19th October seeing the HD6k series and Fermi's successor Kepler also incoming soon The problem with SBM is they fail to make use of combos -that is not how i would operate :p
Edit: Also -ve on that VRaptor: 500GB/1TB mechanical for storage and 60GB Sandforce SSD for boot/OS if u want to splash?

Thanks for the build batuchka. I will be building in the next month. I know these things may change so I will re-post this build for critique again.

Or should I just try and wait it out until the SandyBridge stuff comes out hoping prices will be even lower.

What do you think about that?
