Trying to add memory to ASUS P5QL PRO Motherboard

I am tring add additional ram memory to my ASUS board but the PC crashes on the windows boot. I am trying to add 2 exact duplicate KVR800D2N6/2G ram chips to the two open slots on the board. The ASUS book says it can take up to 16GB. Not sure how to remedy this problem.
Can anyone help? Would be greatly appreciated.

What version of windows are you using, and what is the model of the original RAM that is in there?

WIN XP Pro Model of the RAM ?? Original chipset packaging is Kingston, KVR800D2N6/2G 2GB PC2 - 6400 CL6 240 Pin DIMM 1.8V
Is that what you are asking? All 4 are exactly the same.

Win XP (32bit) can only support up to 3GB of RAM. So unless you are using win XP 64 bit, then that is probably the problem you are running into

You are most likely correct and I have given up on trying to install the 2GB to 4GB upgrade. Some of my friends say they have doe it but none of them had volunteered to come over and show me. Thanks for you help, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
