WD My Passport 320 corrupted Mac OSX 10.6...question

Okay a few years ago I dropped my WD passport USB like 3 ft onto a hard floor (it fell out my bookbag) and the casing SLIGHTLY became undone but NOT enough to expose it (you can kinda open it). Despite this, the drive worked SEAMLESSLY! Now fast-forward 2 years (last year), it falls like 8 inches onto a carpeted rug and is not being recognized by my Mac. I have OSX 10.6.

Now initially I suspected it was the power cord. The part that plugs into the external was bent upward from falling initially and plugged in and it lit up but that's it. Now I tried different cords and it would say 'drive is corrupted' and not work. I lost hope and was flipping tables because I have valuable data on here I need. I called it quits.

Today I tried a different cord on chance and it recognized it! All my data was there! I tried to get it off of there but it was an AGONIZINGLY LONG transfer time. I am talking 8 hours for 3GBs...that would normally take like 4 minutes. I decided to stop the transfer and take it to a professional. Well, it crashed my Finder and now it is no longer recognizable. It shows up under Disk Utility...but clicking on it will freeze my Finder and cause it to crash.

What can I do? I don't really give two shits about the hardware but the data on there is irreplaceable. I don't have access to a windows computer. If I can avoid the professional I will, but I want to know what am I dealing with here.
