First of all, I would like to thanks TomsHardware for all the supportive information that I had learnt. After lurking in this forum as Guest for quite some time now I finally decided to become a part of this great community.

I am trying to build my first gaming desktop but I am having quite some questions before spending my hard earn $$ for it. My intention is for the system to last for another 3-5 years or so.

My allocated budget: $2000

My usage:
1. Will only do some mild OC and not so intensive, e.g, OC CPU until 4.x GHz
2. Gaming with hope that it will runs smooth when played under 1920x1080 resolution.

Processor : Intel Core i7 930 2.80 GHz
Motherboard : Asus Sabertooth X58
Ram : Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) 1600 MHz CL8 (Ram is cmp6gx3m3a1600c8)
HDD : WD Cavier Black 64MB 1TB
Graphic Card : Asus 5870 1GB V2
Power Supply : Silverstone ST75 750 Strider Plus full modular psu with 80 plus silver @ RM498
Casing : CM HAF 932 @ RM 419
CPU / VGA Coolers : Noctua D14 (not avail. in malaysia at the moment)

For the processor, I had read that i7 920 does offer flexbility when it comes to OC. But it's hard to find anyone selling it in my country (Malaysia).

Motherboard
I had get recommendation for Sabertooth x58 over Asus P6X58D-E because someone told me that x58 had better overall cooling system. I wonder if that holds true?

RAM
It had been a hard time for me trying to figure out a better RAM. Corsair Dominator is based on other people recommendation. My previous setup was GSkillz (GSkill 3x2GB DDR3 F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD). I wonder how does it holds up?

Also Mushkin also seems favorable, I wonder which one to choose from the list below as the price is nearly the same?

Spoiler
998696 - 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000 9-10-9-24 Blackline = RM689
TRIPLE Kit 2000Mhz C9

998826 - 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 6-8-6-24 Ridgeback = RM699
TRIPLE Kit 1600Mhz C6

998782 - 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 7-9-7-24 Blackline = RM669
TRIPLE Kit 1600Mhz C7

998681 - 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 8-8-8-24 Blackline = RM639
TRIPLE Kit 1600Mhz C8

998832 - 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666 7-7-7-20 Blackline = RM525
TRIPLE Kit 1333Mhz C7

Power Supply
Should I choose Silverstone over Seasonic X750? Is X750 more silent than the former?

CPU Cooler
I would definitely go for Noctua D14 but there is NONE selling in my country. Other had recommend me for Corsair H50 but it's an overhype product? I wonder is there any alternative for it? Megahalem / Megashadow particular model anyone?

Casing
I think this one is a no brainer right? HAF-932 that is. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Since this is my first post hopefully someone will give me some insight on the build. :)

As for cpu cooler, hyper 212 + is a nice alternative
and for the case, simply excellent, nice looks, practicle and well built-
For psu, specify each model .Not enough details here.

For the CPU cooler, what do you think of thermalright vernamous X vs hyper 212+. Which one should I go?

As for the PSU, it's Silverstone ST75 750 Strider Plus full modular psu. It seems to be pretty decent.

well, the thermal.... x is more expensive, but the hyper 212+ does its job really well for the price.
As for the psu, there are many more brands out there. Why you chose silverstone specifically?

I am actually more lean towards Seasonic X750 but my friend recommended me Silverstone as they are more specialized in PSU stuff.

Yea thermalight Venomous X is much more expensive than hyper212+. But I'm wondering how much difference does both of them make? Will I noticed much temp drop with Venomous X than Hyper212+? Or is it just 1-3 celcius difference? The casing itself plays a part in the cooling as well right? Do you think HAF-X might be a better choice?

Highly likely to be 1- 3 c
I have a heavily oced system, from 2.6 to 3.6 ghz, you are only saying a mild oc, so do not bother spending more on the cooler.
Well both cases are nice, it actually depends on you , your preference.
if it was for me, i would have chosen the haf 932 or a mid tower case-

Well the only good thing more the haf x has, is compatibilty with usb 3.0
If you need it-

I see. So here is the ammended list that I had in mind. Might purchase and build it over this weekend :)

Processor : Intel Core i7 950 3.00 GH
Motherboard : Asus Sabertooth X58
Ram : Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) 1600 MHz CL8 (Ram is cmp6gx3m3a1600c8) @RM609 OR 998826 - 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 6-8-6-24 Ridgeback
HDD : WD Cavier Black 64MB 1TB
Graphic Card : Asus 5870 1GB V2
Power Supply : XFX Black Edition 750W
Casing : CM HAF 932
CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212+

Just one more thing to consider, should I go for Corsair Dominator or Mushkin (as listed)? I heard Mushkin had tighter timings than the former, so it should outperform Corsair Dominator?

Yeah the mushkin are just fine-

As for mushkin should i opt for 7-7-7-20 or 6-8-6-24 timings? The later should by right performing faster than the former?

Well lower timings are faster-
6 8 6 24 should be faster, but there is that big difference?
what the price diff ?

well, it depends on you -
Its not that big difference in speed though -
Your choice, i dont think its worth the extra $ 30

I see. I thought there will be a huge difference between them for such premium price.

Just do some google on the mobo and I realized that Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (rev 02) seems to be favorable.

I wonder should I go for Sabertooth or this one? This mobo doesn't have 1600 RAM speed listed but most people say it still work by enabling the XMS in the BIOS profile?

Several factors that attracted me is the software to OC using EasyTune, dual BIOS settings, more USB and PCI-e slots.

Both are good.
Any of it will do just fine-
Don't get attracted by the software, as oc is best done by bios not by software

Yea I'm just a beginner when it comes to OC. Just planning to start this as my new hobby.

Sabertooth does however has lesser I/O than Gigabyte but the TPU seems nice. I think I shall go with it then. Might even consider OC the i7 950 to 4.0 GHz. I wonder in that case I shall go with Venomous X or still Hyper212+

Hi guys, good news as I had confirmed my purchase with my dealer. Too bad as I had to switch the Mushkin (6-8-6-24) with Corsair Dominator (8-8-8-24) cmp6gx3m3a1600c8) because he had no stock with Mushkin...

Hopefully I won't see any slow down with the RAM compared with Mushkin. Even if there is a difference, I wonder does it impact much in gaming, as in 6-8-6-24 versus 8-8-8-24 timing.
