I have an athlon x4 2.9ghz & a radeon 5770.
I play games like call of duty 4, black ops, etc. and I record my gameplay to upload to youtube and such, but when I record with fraps 60fps I lag a little, not so noticable, but throughs you off a lot when gaming.

If I update my cpu to, lets say, a phenom II X4 970 BE, would the lag disapear? Otherwise, it depends on the cpu for recording, not my GPU, correct?

From me stating it's an athlon x4 635, you should asume it is an am3 mobo =] The mobo is Asus M4A79XTD EVO motherboard.
I'm almost positive it would support a cpu like the phenom 970. Correct me if I'm wrong, thanks.

When I take my cpu from 2.9ghz to about even 3.3ghz I start having bluescreens etc - i even have an aftermarket cooler, not a phenominal one but temps dropped 5-10c when i put it on. ppl w/o an aftermarket cooler usually can get it above 3.4ghz...

do I need to voltage mod it or somethin?

If your computer crashes it should mean you should increase or decrease the voltage according to the frequency that which you overclock. If you have used prime and tested that it is stable then i suggest you test other hardware.

is this your motherboard?
