Hello again community...

This is my second built. My previous one has the following specs:

CPU: Intel C2Q@2.33 Ghz
Mobo: Intel DG41RQ
GPU: MSI N250GTS Twin Frozr (1 gig)
RAM: 4gig Kingston DDR2
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda@7200RPM
500 GB Seagate
Soundcard: Onboard
Sound Device: Razer Carcharias

This rig is going to my brother, (whose rig is going to our aunt!). I'll be keeping the HDD's and the Headphones though. Oh, my main intention is gaming. I play all FPS games....COD:MW, BFBC2, and all the like types

I'm considering the following:

1. CPU
I'm really keen on getting a quad core. Was looking at Intel's i5 760. I did consider AMD's Phenom II X4 970 but am kinda inclined towards intel.

2. GPU:
GTX 460 (1 gb)
GTX 470
Any other suggestions? I just thought that with the 460, I could SLI another 460 later on when I get some cash.

I'm an nvidia guy :)

3. Mobo
NO idea!! Just know that it should support SLI and DDR3 RAM

4. PSU:
Am looking at 650W/ 700W. Antec or Corsair or Coolermaster are the choices

The monitor resolution will be at 1680x1050. The budget is WITHOUT the monitor.....

Would deeply appreciate some inputs.

Thanks!

ASUS P7P55D-E Pro motherboard for x8/x8 SLI, SATA3, USB3 <for an i5 760>

A 460(1GB) is going to be very strong with a 1680x1050 monitor. You can add a second 460 when you get a new, larger monitor.

Seasonic has priced themselves competitively lately.
Seasonic 650W bronze ($75)

Seasonic 750W silver ($110) same price as Antec TP750

If going Antec look at the TP 650 or EA 750.

Need a case?

Thanks man, for the suggestions. Yes, a case is required! But its not a priority as I don't wanna spend too much for side windows/ 6-7 HDD bays, etc. I'll pretty much be happy with just 3 bays for additional HDD's. Plus, 2-3 fans should be good enough for cooling (my den is well air conditioned).

As for the mobo, what I gathered from my bit of research is that it should be an X58/ P55 chipset. I still looking at the one you mentioned.

But I guess with an i5 and a GTX 460(1gig), I should be alright for sometime. I'm quite positive that I'll be adding a second 460 later on. Guess the two 460's in SLI should do me good.

Sorry for the double post! Just wanted to mention that I can use newegg only as a point of reference. I don't think they deliver here in India. Even if they did, I wouldn't wanna take the chance of ordering parts from so far away and taking the potential risk of some damage en route. Will be sticking to my local vendor, who gets me the components at almost the same price as those on newegg.
