I built a computer recently and unknowingly chose an incompatible HDD. My motherboard only supports SATA and I got an SAS HDD. I'm not returning the SAS because it's 15k rpm with 64 mb cache, and I got it for only $100 US. I'm determined to make it work in my system, and have come up with a possible solution, I just need someone more knowledgeable to confirm that it will work before I purchase anything. So here's my question.
If my motherboard only supports SATA, can I add SAS compatibility by installing a SAS controller card with internal SAS ports on it? Also would I be able to boot a new system using it? Here are the cards I've been looking at.
