Temperature and AHCI

Hello,
Im on windows XP and i switched from IDE to AHCI in BIOS after installing the Intel storage manager.
Now somehow the temperature sensor for the HD died, its not showing any temperature for HD anymore in any software.
It was working on IDE, but somehow its not working on AHCI..?
what could have caused that and is there any remedy?

IDE and AHCI modes utilise different Windows drivers. Some SMART software has difficulty communicating with certain drivers. IME HD Sentinel will work in most cases.
