v2.0.00 implements all the feedback from v1.x.x.x
- I'll be releasing minor updates here and there
- One of them might reduce the CPU load by 99% or so, but that's a little way off yet.
When it's finished a report like the following will be shown:
Time taken: 161.0703 seconds.
Files: 149854 (Denied: 253)
Directories: 32206 (Denied: 253)
Small Files PreCached: 142327 of 149854
Percentage of files read: +94.97711% of all files on C: drive!
Total Read: 5082355 KB
Available Physical Memory: 5080124 KB
Speed: 31567 KB/sec
As you can see, on a reasonably well kept installation of Windows 7 (Pro, x64) it can precache over 94.97% of the files on the HDD into RAM. Which is about 4,963 MB of disk reads if you have enough free RAM when it is run.
After running PreCacher v126.96.36.199 your Available memory remains the same, only it contains a substantially high percentage of cached files from C: drive.
Before running PreCacher v188.8.131.52 your Available memory will be similar, only most of it will probably be Available (Free), instead of Available (Standby).
