What I Ordered so far and I am looking for suggestions on Case/cooler/MOBO.

Only MOBO I really considers is the ASUS X58 Sabertooth

Cooling thinking about the Cooler master V8 or H50

Cases I am looking at though I am having the most trouble picking: Cooler Master HAF 912 and the Cooler Master CM690 II Advanced.

I do plan on overclocking later would like min. 3.8 but prefer to push at least 4.0. Take that into mind for cooler/case.

I am about $866 right after I get rebates. So I still have alot of room for shopping considering I was gonna spend $1500.
But now I plan on sticking under $1100, but take into mind I have a $150 gift card for to spend on MOBO which will shave the cost.

Thanks for all feedback and suggestions.

BTW those 2 GTX460's are still on sale at new egg, and you do get rebates on both of them. You can get a better deal than a gtx 460 for $130 after rebate.

More about build case cooling mobo suggestions
  1. really prefer not to get a fullsize case
  2. Sabertooth x58 is a good motherboard choice.

HAF 912, Antec 300 illusion for mid cases.

I would get a pair of GTX 460 (1GB) instead of the 768MB models. They are significantly faster.
  3. Case is mostly an aesthetics thing; most cases on the $70-$100 range have good cooling.

I'll second the recc of the 1GB 460s. You have the budget headroom to afford it, and you'll get much better performance than the 768MB ones. They'll probably run you an extra $140-$160 pre-rebates.
  4. I already ordered the 2 460's.

Trying to figure what mid tower can fit the V8 or 212 coolers, ect just large in size for mid towers.

With my build, I want to hit about 3.8ghz with HT turned off with a 212, thats what I am leaning towards. Dont' know if it will cool enough.

All those suggestion would help expecially mid towers that will fit large coolers.
  5. I'm pretty sure all of the cases mentioned so far can fit the 212, even the 300, which is the smallest of the bunch. Dunno about the V8, but I haven't heard the greatest things about that cooler anyways.
  6. Well thats good to know I think if I get the Cooler Master CM690 II Advanced with a cooler master 212 cooler, I am gonna have to look up the 300.

And if all test run good low temps I'll try to OC it.

Looks like no other choice than the X58 sabertooth, I read that the upper 460 will get cooked. Might have to look into stronger/better fans for the case for general cooling

Actually, I need to correct myself...Tom's fit a Hyper TX3 in an Antec 300, but that's 19.5 mm, or 0.77 in, shorter than the 212+. Not sure if the 212 will fit in a 300 or the 690. It will fit for sure in the HAF 922/HAF 912 though.

Edit: In Tom's "Gaming Enclosures for Under $50" they said that the 300 will hold "oversize components" They show the components installed, but don't say what they are. The cooler looks like a 212, but I'm not positive. It only shows the top. The TX3 was from the last system builder marathon.
  8. IN WIN Maelstrom Black SECC throwing this in there for my options full size but good price and great reviews
  9. I have a Xigmatek Balder in one of my 300s. The hyper 212 will fit fine. You need something like 7.75 inches wide for a 120mm cooler to fit. The 300 is 8.1 inches wide and fits those coolers comfortably. Its as wide as the Antec 900/902 and can probably fit an Noctua NH14. The side panel fan slot is positioned over the PCIE slots so you can still mount a side fan and not interfere with the CPU cooler.

The V8s performance is about the same as the Hyper 212 plus. Its more expensive for the looks, not its cooling capacity.
  10. The HAF 912 is a great choice... or the haf 922

  12. Decided on the HAF 912 since it will fits my spec well I am just going to pick up 3 extra 120mm fans with it and eventually stick a coolermaster 212 in it.

    Thanks for all the feedback
