Asus IPIBL-LB with pentium e6700 (W)

im doing a cheap processor upgrade. I want to replace my E2180 with a Pentium dual-core E6700 (W)@ 3.2ghz. The mobo specs say that its compatible with E6700 (C) and the Intel Core 2 Duo (W) E8xxx . Will my mobo support it, if not what are my options?

It should run those CPUs, but it may depend on which BIOS the motherboard has. Here's a link that includes a newer BIOS.

There was also a link on the Anandtech forums that someone used a Q9550 with no problems on that motherboard, but i couldn't run it down.

If the CPU is not on the list it will not have BIOS support. It will probably run though since the board has the correct fsb. You will be better of with a E8xxx which is supported.
