Hi all,
I have a really strange memory problem maybe someone can give me some advice.
My current setup is:
Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H
AMD Phenom ii X2 550
Corsair Dominator 2 x 2Gb CMP4GX3M2A1600C9
System I'm trying to build
MSI P55M-GD41
Intel Core i5 655K
And I want to use the same memory from the above system.
So I put the 2 DIMMs in slots 1 and 3 of the MSI board (as per the manual) and Windows cannot install, it reboots after the initial loading screen. So I remove DIMM 3 and Windows installs properly. I reboot and run Memtest for 1 iteration and it runs successfully. I swap DIMM 1 with the DIMM 3 I had previously removed and bam! errors!!! Funny that this very memory was working in my AMD system just before pulling it out, so I'm thinking maybe somehow I blew the memory.
I take the 2 DIMMs and put them back into my AMD system, run Memtest for 5 hours, and 0 errors ZERO!
I'm confused as to why 1 of the DIMMs doesn't work on the Intel board, but 1 does. If it was incompatible then neither of them should have worked.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation? Should I RMA the memory? or the board?
Thanks
