Hello,

I have a huge problem

During the last few days my computer was sometimes shutting down for no reason when playing a game (ex dragon age)
I get bored of that, so i decide to open the case to check everything....
only thing i do is unplug and replug the fans

Then, when i try to open my computer, it shuts down right after the windows loading, as soon as i see the desktop
it does that EVERYTIME i try to boot, ive tried many times

My PC is pretty new
intel i7
radeon 5850
6g ram
Asus P6T

Could it be some hardware that gets overheated ?

If someone could help me out it would be really appreciated

Thanks a lot !!!

What make/model of power supply are you using? Also, are you overclocking anything? If you are OCing, return to stock speeds until stabilized. Also, install hwmonitor (just google it and install the free version). Use it to monitor temps. Sounds like your GPU and/or PSU may be having a problem.

I am using a 700w power supp
Nothing is overclocked

I cannot even use my computer because 5 or 6 seconds after the desktop appears, my pc shuts down....

My guess qould be the video card overheating and making the comp shut down

thanks for the help

Since you moved around the cables, double check to make sure there are no loose ends that could be shorting the system.

Does it just shut down, or restart?

Try booting into safe mode. Can you get in there fine? If yes, check the event viewer to see if the PC is logging any errors.

This could be a few things, check your psu connections, maybe psu is failing or can't handle load (I don't think it's this), CPU or gpu temps issue? But is just kicking you out if the game or pc restarts or bsod?

hey,
not being funny but i had a very very similar problem a while back on 2 occasions.

The 1st time i had an aluminium hard drive enclosure which gathered a LOAD of dust causing the HD to overheat. It was crashing withing 15 seconds of booting into windows. Cleaned out then computer was absolutely fine. So give your puter a clean if needed.

The 2nd time i had a slightly faulty stick of RAM. I had 3 x 512MB sticks. My computer would hang upon boot then within a few seconds i would get blue screen of death. I removed 1 512MB stick with process of trial and error and computer was absolutely fine once again.

Dont know if this will help but just thought id throw some ideas out there. Good luck.

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your computer? I am going through the same thing right now.
