Need help

Need help ive never build but figured it couldnt be hard. now ive just finish putting everthing together and i fired it up my monitor gets no signal and i got the hdmi cable connected to it ive also tried pluging in the vga cable and nothing might it be my video card xfx radeon 5770? ive yet go into os make the changes and install os this one wasnt a problem i was forseeing my moniter is an acer 23 1080p just recently bought on friday and ive tried with my hdmi cable box on it and it works fine would appreciate any help.
