Hey guys, quick question on upgrading.

I've got a Bfg tech 9800gtx+ oc that isn't really doing the job for me anymore. Ever since I started recording with fraps, my frame rates weren't all that great. I was thinking about upgrading to an HD 5870, but I recently discovered how much power the GTX 480 has over the 5870 as far as tessellation goes. I'm also wondering about which one would be better for futureprofing my system.

Current specs...

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition

Corsair H50

ASUS M4A78 PRO

Antec EarthWatts 650W

Samsung 160GB

HP DVD1170

BFG TECH 9800GTX+ OC

AOC 22" LCD @ 1920x1080

Thanks in advance ;)

I'd go with a GTX470, the difference in performance between it and the 480 does not warrent the extra 180ish dollars, you will be spending.

If you will buy an gtx 480 do worry about melting mobo bro its power hungry card ...rather go with the hd 5870 it's worth buying ...and if you want to sli get 2 gtx 460 and then see the power of this card.
But for single gpu hd 5870 will be ideal.
