I know that Sb is touch with voltage over 1.5v but the best ram at 1866+ speeds is 1.65, and from what i read they say that it will work, I have a 2600k cpu.

What i want is 8gb-16gb of the best ram i can get that will easiley reach its sold speed of 1866+ Let me know

  1. The DDR3 1866 or faster won't do a thing for your gaming, and you're begging for problems in a 16GB arrangement with faster than 1600 MHz. The SB has the same DIMM voltage limits as the LGA 1366/1156 the 'difference' is the IMC 'safe' limit of VCCIO 1.20v whereas the prior qpi/vtt were 1.35v; simply you'll do a hell of a lot more 'damage' to your CPU with a vCore >1.25v than DIMM voltage of 1.65v...so are you NOT going to OC >3.8GHz~4GHz??!! Really!

  2. Well if it going to do nothing for gaming i currently have 8gb 4x2 of corsair dominator 1333 1.5v is this good enough in all honesty?
  3. I'm not aware of any Corsair Dominator that are DDR3-1333MHz, I can only think of DDR3-1600 or faster. Most 1600 MHz Dominator's can 1800 MHz without a problem.

Q - What Corsair Dominator do you have???

Look at the whole article, but here's the gaming section -> http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/memory/2011/01/11/the-best-memory-for-sandy-bridge/6

4X2GB {8GB} is better than 4GB and the gain going to DDR3 1600 MHz CAS 8/9 might be 2~3FPS. Personally, if money is burning a hole in your pocket the (2) things that make the most sense to me: 1. 120GB or larger SSD, 2. GPU {since you already have GTX 580 SLI} add a PhysX.

When people typically ask to SB + RAM 9.9/10 I recommend the 1600 CAS 8 2x4GB F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231445 without even having to think about it. However, I'm not so cool about 'burning' money without a gain.

  4. The corsair dominator ram i got was a newegg only item like 6 months ago, its 1333mhz 1.5volt ram
  5. Wow, I didn't know they made a DDR3 1333 CAS 9 Dominator; CMP8GX3M4A1333C9. Chances are you can OC them to DDR3-1600 MHz 9-9-9-24-2N @ 1.55v~1.60v~1.65v, the Command Rate (2N) is important, and if OC the CPU then add VCCIO -> 1.125v. Verify no errors with Memtest 2~4 passes and Prime95 blend for 1~2 hours.
  6. But with the ram I have is there really a need to overclock it or is it going to be just fine here it is at, Btw I have a 250gb SSD, And there is no need for a physx card, with 2 580's it handles fine, I added a gtx 260 as a physx card ones it really didnt do much, and I dont play the games that have physx anyway they all seem to suck IMO
