Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.configuration_manage (More info?)
I had posted this in the deployment group, but then started reading some of
the posts here and thought it might fit better.
I have a few new identical machines. I set up one the exact way I wanted
them all to be and then used Norton Ghost 9.0 to make an image of it on a
USB drive.
I then tried to put the image on the other computers, and in a couple of
cases it worked fine, and the rest I get this error saying that "we
apologize but windows didn't start correctly..." and it gives me the
options to boot with command prompt, safe mode, etc. It doesn't matter
which choice I pick, I eventually return to the same screen (even if I don't
pick any choices, it reboots on it's own and brings me back there).
I have done this in the past successfully, I can't figure out what is
happening this time.
One other piece of info - they are Gateway machines with 40 gig hard drives.
They are partitioned into an NTSF drive and some other format - one is for
recovery. THe partitions are about equal. I've tried copying just one, and
copying both...both end up with the same results.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve this? I would really appreciate it.
