Initialising WD160GB Issues

Hey Guys,

I'm running Win 7 HP on a Pav Dv7 and have recently been trying to use an External HDD but I can't initialise it. Ive been into Computer Manangment but I can't initialise it. Is this HDD screwed or can I fix this issue somehow.

Any advice welcome.
Thanks

  1. you have to format the drive to use it some external have a cd to install software for them, what is the name and model of that external drive ?
  2. How do UVCView and HD Sentinel identify the drive? UVCVIew talks to the USB-SATA bridge IC inside the enclosure whereas HD Sentinel attempts to communicate with the HDD behind the bridge.

  4. If it is powered from the USB port, try a USB Y-cable. Sometimes a single USB port cannot provide enough current to spin up the drive.
