Should I wait or should I pull the trigger?

All this talk of South Bridge and AMD's newer video cards coming down the pike, some have said that it is not wise to build a high end gaming rig at this time. I have been waiting for quite a long time and right now I have the means to build something that should take care of my gaming needs for some time to come, I hope. Anyways, here is my build list with prices from new egg. Let me know if I'm creating a worthy gaming rig. Any alternate suggestions are appreciated.
I already have monitor and speakers. I need everything else.

Case and MB Combo: $370
Cooler Master HAFX
Asus P6x58D-E

CPU and Video Card Combo $844
Intel Core i7-950
Sapphire HD 5970

RAM and Power Supply Combo $370
Corsair Dominator 6GB DDR3 1600
Corsair HX Series 1000W

SSD $255
Corsair P128 128gb

Hard Drive $75
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

Optical Drive $100
LG 10x BlueRay Burner

CPU Cooler $80
Corsair Hydro Series CwCH50

Mouse $39
Logitech MX518

Keyboard $80
Logitech G15

OS $100
Windows Home Premium

Grand Total with shipping and tax is $2521

If you keep waiting you will be waiting forever because there will always be better stuff around the corner.

My stance is that if you already have the game and your curretn rig is not cutting it. Why not? If you are going to use it right away then don't hold back. If you are just building it and it will sit there a good while before you fully utilize its potential, then you're better off waiting.

One thing I would hold off on is the GPU, at least for another week when the HD 6xxx start coming out. Everything else is perfectly fine.

Its worth holding off a few weeks .

AMD are launching the 6xxx series very soon and that should force 5xxx prices down

I agree with Pizza that there just isnt an advantage with an i7 9xx series cpu for most people . If you have massive screen resolution and 3 or 4 graphics cards then ....yes
but if you are building just for gaming then the i5 is a smarter choice

But the 5970 is hardly dead . Its still the most powerful single graphics card you can buy . Whether its good value is another question ........... Check the charts section of this site
