Map downloads are pretty quick, but lag is awful. Oh, you are running
it on a cable modem, no wonder. TCP/IP ping is bouncing around
between 50 and 200ms from here, and no matter what you think your
upstream bandwidth is, it isn't.

Same (lag) here. For the original poster, you generally can't run a game
server on a home cable-modem connection. The upstream bandwidth provided
by the cable ISP's just isn't enough. Also, it most likely is
*SPECIFICALLY* prohibited by the Terms of Service that you agreed to with
the cable company... Good luck.

Hi there, tried to get in a few times, sadly connection failed. I seem
to have a problem connecting to mututsecure servers...don't know why,
couple of skins, some keybinds, no speed, no aimbot, radar etc. It's
probally something on my end; does connect, loads map, instagib
mutator etc.

I added it to my favs seeing that your in RI <me too> since you live
here i must know you, or at least know someone that knows you <grin>

My roommate had eMule running all night on his workstation . :-\
That thing eats up half the network resources.
The server should be more responsive now as nothing else is running on the
network.

Cox a offering a "Premiere" package that is supposed to be "up to" 30%
faster,
but they want twice the price for it. What's really strange is the business
service they offer
in my area is actually slower.

Yup, it's a rip-off.

I'll bet the *UPSTREAM* speed is faster, which is what matters when trying
to run a server of any kind. Most home cable is 256 Kbit/sec upstream, or
about 30 KBytes/sec. Not enough for a real game server. The business
class is probably 384Kb or 512Kb.

your on cox and i'm on verizon dsl
seems like i'm connecting to another continent  
actually i get very nice pings at euro servers sometimes.
