Compare sata with IDE

Current SATA (SATA III) performance is considerably faster than the old IDE interface, but it's other main advantage is that it removes the need to configure jumpers on the drive as either "master" or "slave" and then remember to place them on the appropriate connectors on the data cable to match that configuration. This arrangement often confused many upgraders when trying to add a second drive, and although the jumper could be set to "cable select", this often didn't work as it was supposed to.
