I figured out how to rig up a second psu to my rig, and I'm curious if it's okay for the gpu to have power to it even though the motherboard and cpu aren't on... I'd guess it's okay... but I'd like to know your opinion before I risk a $300 card...

It's better to get an single high quality psu rather than using two psu

I know... but I don't have the cash to buy that right now. Is it okay for my 5850 to recieve power from a psu even though the motherboard and cpu aren't on?

Ya it will be fine to use the two psu but have to worry about the room to place these two psu's together.

I figured it out... when the green line and the ground are together, it starts the psu. so, I connected the green and ground of my 350 to my 500 now, the motherboard can complete the circuit between the two, and they start at the same time... if anyone wants a guide, I can make a guide... I then connected my 8 pin pci-e power to the 350 and my 140mm and my hdd and dvdrom. It's running well, but I think I should transfer more power to the 350 watt.
