i am sertainly nominated for the stupidity award as i connected my external HDD with the power supply cord of my netbook. and of course it burnt. trying to fix the problem i bought a new case, had the technician make all the connections and when i tried it, it didnt work. they told me that i could leave the disk to professionals to see if it is burnt but i cant do that due to "sensitivity" of some of my data. then again, i got serious staff in the disk that i need for my work. what can i do? please help.

well if you have sensitive data you want to recover then yes contact some computer store for data recovery service...or ask one of the work IT's for insight if they can recover the data if its company stuff you dont want people to see
