Just Wondering Capabilities Of This Build...?

Hey all,

I'm thinking about putting together my first custom built mid-ranged gaming computer. I am fairly uneducated when it comes to what makes a computer and its parts perform well when playing games, handling media, etc. Therefore, I was just wondering how the build I will present below will fair with gaming. I would like to know what games it could potentially handle, how well, FPS, etc etc. Thanks in advance!

Please note that I already have possession of the Graphics Card and the PSU.

yeah i agree. saw some good reviews on the gts 250. sweet price and good performance

I was surprised when I looked it up. GT 220 seems to fall in between a 4670 and 4650 in performance. And this is a 1GB version, so it's definitely much better than the IGP.

Will play most games on medium settings, as long as you are at 1440x900 or lower. Not a great card but not as bad as I thought. For 10 bucks more you could get a 4850 that would bury it of course.

At $70 a 4670 would also beat it.

It'll game pretty well, but if you have $100 or so you can spend, HD 4870's are getting awfully cheap and would blow that GT220 out of the water. Beyond that it'll do great.

Also, Tom's just did a CPU/GPU bottlenecking bit, showed that primarily a tri-core was a great value, so if you want to save a few $$$ you could go for an Athlon X3 440 or something and you'd still have ~95% of your performance.

Just some options.

Thanks for all your replies! Unfortunately I already bought the gt220 a while ago =( part of a newegg combo with the power supply for under $50 so at the time- since i actually thought it was a DECENT graphics card (lol i know better now!) it was too good a deal to pass up haha. Now that I somewhat know the power of this card, any chance it will hold for Crysis? Just a little hope ;)

Otherwise I dont know how i'm going to get my moneys worth back from this card, unfortunately I also had to rip apart shrink rap and cut out box for a mail-in rebate! Any suggestions on a place to sell etc?

Also forgive my noobness but whats IGP? Is that the onboard integretated graphics you are all talking about by any chance? Thanks so much again!

Ok thanks! All other components are compatible with each other and good for gaming? I just want to make sure before I get everything and just focus on improving graphics.

Looks good but actually I have a $15 off code for the 1TB hard drive so its actually only $55 :D case $30 total so $85 to $80 extra 5 bucks for 1TB compared to 500GB lol sorry dont mean to put you down! but thanks a lot anyway I really appreciate the help! All i really need to do is get a better graphics card without putting the gt220 to waste... not sure if ebay, amazon, etc will really be worth the trouble, time and whether ill actually get my moneys-worth back.
