Hello,
i'm looking at buying a custom built computer, while looking at the specs for the psu i noticed that it has 2 8 pin pci-e connectors and the gtx 460 needs 2 6 pin connectors, will i be able to plug the 2 8 pins from the psu into the 6 pin connections on the vid card?

Without knowing the model and mfg, cant be 100% sure but MOST have 6+2 PCIe cables meaning two of the 8 are loose and 6 can be used leaving the other 2 free. Look for that in the specs, might say 8 pin (6+2).

its just their standard 700 w psu,it doesnt give a make or model # it says the type is an atx12v/eps12v. it has 1 x main connector 1 x 12v(4+4) 8 x peripheral 6 x sata 1 x floppy 2 x pci-e (8 pin)

i was using the configurator at ibuypower.com i'm going to assume the system is going to come prebuilt so it should be working ok,right? It's my first time buying a computer like this,i'm hoping i just don't get a bunch of boxes with the components as i'm not a very tech savvy user

I have never bought pre built, but assume there would be an assembly charge or mention of it being assembled. If it is pre built then yes I would expect it to be working when it arrives.
